D.I.Y. patches for supplement delivery

Is anyone else interested in making your own patches for supplement delivery?

Patches are not strictly about age-reversal.  They can be used for other vitamins & supplements, too.  But I'm looking for various ways to get beneficial molecules absorbed into my body and patches seem to offer an easy way.  Of the various age-reversing supplements, which would be suitable for D.I.Y. patch?

Right now I'm wearing three patches that I made this morning:

1- Vitamin D + Pantethine (Vitamin B5)
2- L-Glutathione
3- Gymnema

On this topic, I don’t want to discuss those particular supplements.  Instead, this is about making patches at home and what supplements would be suitable.

The patch material is ordinary wound dressings from the pharmacy -- nothing special.   Two samples shown below.

Not doing this to save money.  Goals are:

  • Alternative to swallowing so many pills, capsules, and tablets every day
  • Reduce exposure to “additives” in pills (eg. Magnesium Silicate)
  • Higher doses than offered by commercially available patches
  • Use components not offered in commercial supplement patches; Newest ideas for age-reversal supplements are unlikely to be in commercial patches.

At this stage I'm wondering which molecules can be absorbed by the skin and which are too large to squeeze in.  Also wondering about oil soluble & water soluble.

Finally, I wish to state my complete and utter lack of qualifications for pursuing this line of self-experimentation.  My formal education covered nothing on any of these topics.

I welcome critique and helpful comments, either on the forum or in private messages.

Thank you.

These are the two wound patches I used:

This patch has L-Glutathione inside.    Looks almost professional, eh?

And this patch is not so pretty, but it works very well.  The stronger adhesive prevents liquid from leaking out.  This is Vitamin D3 combined with Pantethine.

  • Hi!

Very interesting approach. I am considering alternative ways to get molecules into the bloodstream. My first thought has been to make my own Suppositories. This as an approach to have fisetin bypassing the gastric system and increase its bioavailability.

One idea is to have fisetin dissolved with DMSO and then put it on the skin and cover with some kind a patch. Since I am aiming for a senolytic effect I want as much as possible to reach the bloodstream at the same time.

Have you any experience from using DMSO as a solvent when making patches? (With the purpose of increased absorption through the skin)

  • Hi! I truly hope you guys are still active and experimenting with this topic. I joined this site specifically to talk with you about it. I am very interested about it because I have MCAS which is an allergy disease that is extremely serious - essentially if you were allergic to everything and anything you ate turned all your helper cells into mini tumor / attack cells that could realease any combination of over 300 dif harmfal chemicals into the body causing any myriad of inflamation, disease, symtoms and problems.

So for myself specifically there is much I can't eat and it has gotten so bad now that I cannot take most natural treatment and I have a severe reaction to any new medicine I try. My reactions are much worse if things are taken orally. So here I am.

Steffan I have experimented with suppositories but have found it a very messy business and there are certain meds and supplements that could be harmful to your sensitive lining down there - and I just don't know enough to know which things could be unsafe. So I would far prefer to try making transdermal patches!

  • So Mike and Stefan,

Are you still doing this? Have you refined it and figured out what things have the right sized molecules to be absorbed into the body fully, and if the DMSO is the key?

Any help in this area would be amazing and potentially life saving for me (and many others with this illness actually) as I have a different serious illness that needs treating and is just on hold due to the damn allergy disease and my reactions.

Things I would love to use in a patch for my illness - but also would be great for your purposes Mike are essentials like Tumeric, Curcumin, Vit C, D,  Coq10, Mag, etc.

tabetha ray It's good that Mike is doing patch for D3.   I'll try it soon.   My own experiment with patches for NAD is a failure because twice I got severe ringworm infection.   It seems the normally dormant fungus loves the extra NAD and started feeding on my healthy skin.

Mike -- are you still doing this?  Gotten any further?  Are there instructions anywhere?    What do you use for a transdermal carrier?  I've tried a few substances that are oil soluble -- good transdermal carriers include avocado, jojoba, almond oil.  Aloe vera is a good aqueous transdermal (for water soluble b-vitamins for instance).  But so far it seems a pretty inexact process  -- how to measure, spread it on the bandage etc.  see how it's taking.   Wonder where you are on it...

It's such a nice gesture that drug stores delivery medications too. I remember the time during the pandemic and everyone was quarantines (gosh, it's still going on), it was almost impossible to buy drugs, because well, we couldn't go out! Here we have a delivery service that delivers only drugs. They even created an app that allows me to track my package. It's extremely reassuring to know that my orders are in safe hands, you know?

  • Has anyone looked into a company that will make transdermal patches for a reasonable price?

Has anyone tried making melatonin patches? If so what was your process.

I have tried using melatonin powder (300+mg) and DMSO gel (99.9%) which absorbs well but I want to try patches for more time delayed absorption.

Joe I was looking for other topic, but noticed several people for few years have been trying to create various patches.  Are you familiar with:

      https://www.lifewave.com/

My holistic MD put me onto this 2 years ago.  Below was the e-mail introducing the product.  I've worked with this MD for 20 years.  My wife & I have used the patches, still use some.  They are effective, but expensive.  I have bought some on eBay at slightly reduced prices the past year:

I think you know me well enough that you know I would never have anything to do with a Network Marketing company and that I am extremely resistant to hype.  Having said that, I am sharing this information with you because I know you are very interested in health and longevity.  I know you are well aware of stem cell therapies with the exaggerated cost and often limited efficacy.  What I have recently gotten involved in is chemical-free patches that stimulate the release and activation of your own innate stem cells and triple the blood level of glutathione.  Sounds too good to be true but I am blown away at what I am seeing personally and in others who have tried them.  There are even anti-cancer benefits.

I have personally been using the X39 patches and have been absolutely amazed at my results so far.  I have noticed improvement in my exercise stamina (at age 72 I am still playing soccer with 20 year olds) and dramatic improvement in recovery time after workouts.  I no longer have that aching pain for days afterwards and my chronic low back pain is 80% gone.  I have even noticed flattening of my crows feet and fading of the brown age spots on my hands.  The X39 patch works by stimulating the release of stem cells which can repair all of our body organs.  I have had patients travel out of the country and pay tens of thousands of dollars to get stem cell treatments with much less benefit than I routinely see with these patches and the cost is equivalent to a daily cup of coffee. In general people using X39 patches report improvement in stamina, improved recovery time from exercise, decreased pain, decreased inflammation, improved sleep quality, improved memory, improved mood, flattening of wrinkles and scars, amongst other benefits.  I think you will be similarly impressed with your own results and I look forward to hearing your honest evaluation with your personal use.

LifeWave has other patches as well that seem very interesting for different situations.  In particular, there are two more patches of note.  The glutathione patch has been shown to increase plasma glutathione levels by an average of 300%! and the carnosine patch has been associated with improved brain function and muscle strength and stamina.  Glutathione is the body's main detoxification molecule and is especially vital to the health of the brain, lungs and liver.   Glutathione is responsible for clearing heavy metals and toxic chemicals from our brain and body.
