High dose nicotinic acid with acetyl-carnitine restores hair color?
I found out that high dose nicotinic acid (3+ grams) with high dose acetyl-carnitine (1+ grams) seems to be able to at least partially restore hair color in my father in his 70s, from gray to dark brown (natural color) after a few months of usage.
Nicotinic acid is anti-inflammatory in several tissues including it seems hair follicles, and acetyl-carnitine seems to improve mitochondrial function.
Both inflammation and mitochondrial function are linked to graying of hair.
Does anyone happen to have tried the same combination and experienced the same effect, or not?

Hello, I take 1g nicotinic acid and 1g acetyl-carnitine 5 days a week pre-workout, because of the flushing/ itching. How does your father manage the flushing from 3g/day?

Thanks for the feedback, you are right. I tested this yesterday by increasing my dose of nicotinic acid from 1g to 1,5g and the flushing / itching sensation was the same. The only difference I noticed was the red color of the skin lasted longer, which makes sense.
