Source of information about studying human genomic aging in real time

I read a comment about how "traditional research shows that aging is a long-term genetic phenomenon". The idea is that observational research of a given human subject aging at the genomic/genetic level must be done in real time (allowing the observed human to naturally age). I am looking for a source of information to back up that this was (at least traditionally) the viewpoint. I would be so grateful if anyone could provide me with a recommended literature regarding this topic!
