Hair regrowth

I know nothing about it, and I'd like to not go bald. Any tips on drugs, shampoos, do plugs work, etc.??

  • Be sure it is male pattern causing the issue.  Your thyroid may not be at the right level and that will create hair loss.

  • Hey I know old-ish thread is old but I just found this forum, anyway I experemented with using a 1/4 baking soda to 3/4 water mix in my hair followed by a half apple cider vinegar half water mix and surprised to say my hair sprouted quick after a week of use and gained colour. Will be experementing on my sisters hair soon too when/if she lets me since shes actually suffering from hair loss.

  • Check Page 170, Appendix C, in my book “Living Longer and Reversing Aging” You can also visit my website www.doctorpuentesbook.com

Here there is excerpt from the Appendix

    Hair growth and baldness
Men with higher levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) have increased levels of hair loss. Too much of this hormone can shrink hair follicles to the point where no new hair can grow.  Men may notice baldness of the crown of the head as the first sign of baldness. Rogaine stimulates hair growth in men by inhibiting the activity of DHT.  Rogaine works better with early signs of baldness.  Once baldness is total, it does not work.
Two preparations (2 percent and 5 percent) rubbed into the hair work about the same. However, recent studies found that, after a year of daily use, 5 percent Rogaine works better than the 2 percent preparation. Some drugs used to treat the enlargement of the prostate help to decrease baldness, but they have some side effects.  Propecia and Avodart help to inhibit DHT.  Women should not use these drugs.
Spot baldness, alopecia areata or patchy hair loss, may affect some women.  When a woman is losing hair, she may be under a great deal of stress. Reducing stress helps to improve this condition.  Pulling the hair to create a ponytail too tightly may cause hair loss. Low thyroid may be associated with hair loss.  Steroid creams may help to improve hair loss.
Garlic gels twice a day, combined with a steroid cream, were helpful in men treated in a placebo-controlled study in Iran. Onion juice has been found to stimulate hair growth. Some hair shampoos, conditioners, and serums also promote hair growth. Saw palmetto is a DHT inhibitor. I recommend saw palmetto extract, which you can find in health stores. Use five drops of the extract in 10 ml of water and apply it to the hair after using a shampoo and conditioner to thicken the hair. You can use a serum to thicken the hair after the application.  Supplementation with zinc and biotin is recommended. Shampoos and conditioners containing biotin are helpful to keep hair stronger and prevent hair loss.

You may want to look at this link.

      http://www.jneuropsychiatry.org/peer-review/development-of-colostrum-maf-and-its-clinical-application.html

This talks about how colostrum MAF (GcMAF) is produced.  It is not just colostrum, but colostrum processed into GcMAF (bovine GcMAF).  There are internet sites that sell just colostrum or yogurt with colostrum.  They take advantage of those who do not know the difference.  The site must specify it is selling GcMAF or colostrum MAF and specify the number of ng's in each product.  I hope what you bought is GcMAF.

I emailed my supplier for more detailed info.  I order the 15,000 ng cream from a distributor here in the states for convenience.  Here is her reply:

"Thank you for your encouraging update.  It is always nice to hear about the drop in nagalase.  I hope the extra GcMAF will help you all the more.

The GcMAF from GcMAFPlus is derived from bovine colostrum.  It is a 22 step process to separate the GcMAF protein from colostrum.  The protein in the cream and spray is a very concentrated amount of GcMAF.

Each container of GcMAF cream has a total amount of what is printed on the package.  Each pump is 1/70 that amount.  There are approximately 70 pumps per container. "

A Google search on GcMAF turns up a whole host of warnings about fraud, cancer quacks, contaminated injectables, retracted papers, and stern warnings.  On the other hand, there are also testimonials about semi-miraculous cancer cures, etc.

GcMAF may be as remarkable as you say, but it certainly has garnered a lot of bad publicity.  On the other hand, the hair restoration aspect is interesting.  Perhaps I should rub some GcMAF cream on my depopulated scalp.

Question: is your supplier still in business?  If so, what's her link?

Yes, BIG PHARMA has a major disinformation campaign against GcMAF for obvious reasons.  Then too there are always fraudsters wanting to cash in on the unknowing.  So it is important to do your research like you have done.  A lot of the early reports you are reading concerns First Generation GcMAF  which required cooling and was not as stable as Second Generation GcMAF developed by the Japanese.  But both of these are injectable or spray blood products which turn-off many people.  The solution to these problems is colostrum MAF (Bovine GcMAF).  As you know, the FDA protects the pharmaceutical industry because this industry is a source of millions in fees and they want to keep the drug pipeline flowing.  All GcMAF's are a MAJOR threat to this pipeline.  Not long ago the evil FDA raided doctors in Georgia and Florida who were using First Generation GcMAF in their practice.  I don't know yet how the evil FDA will respond to colostrum GcMAF.  I would not put it past them to ban colostrum MAF like they did plasma GcMAF.  So I can't give you the name of my distributor to protect her.  When it comes to medicine, we live in a police (FDA) country.  But I have given you the name of the product.  Go to the supplier's website and contact them directly.  The supplier may give you a name here willing to go public.  But I am having excellent results with colostrum MAF.  I hope you understand my position and I don't want to lose my distributor to the evil socialist FDA or have her persecuted for doing good.

Dr. Yamamoto who discovered the GcMAF protein in blood plasma was in effect blackballed by the medical system.  So he personally published his studies (no backers) using shortcuts to save time and money.  He wanted to get his discovery out in the public to advance medicine.  His actual study data was not questioned, just the wrappings of his studies which he fudged.  His detractors who wanted to suppress his discovery went after him with a vengeance.  He wanted the research community to test and validate his study results to move his profound discovery forward.  Science did not know that GcMAF existed at this point.

But instead of testing and trying to refute his results scientifically (which they couldn't), they went after the publisher to get his studies retracted based on study ethics, not results.  Then I'm sure they threatened to blackball any researchers who proposed to test his study results further. So only 1 of his 4 studies remain published in the scientific literature.  The study on prostate cancer was validated by a Defense Department commissioned study so the publisher refused to retract Dr, Yamamoto's prostate study.  Notice that none of his other 3 studies have been tested (breast cancer, colon cancer and HIV).

At that time there was no GcMAF product on the market.  So Dr. Yamamoto was not hawking a GcMAF product.  He never sold a GcMAF product.  But he did patent the extraction process for making GcMAF back in the early 1990's.  Since the patent was public, Immuno Biotech Ltd in the UK started producing GOleic illegally off this patent.  Dr. Yamamoto recovered no royalties.      Some of his patents have expired now.  This same process has been adapted for producing colostrum MAF.  But if Immuno Biotech Ltd had not recognized the importance of this medical breakthrough and produced GOleic, the world would not know anything about GcMAF.  The medical system had successfully blackballed Dr. Yamamoto and his discovery until GOleic hit the world market.  Then the boot licking evil socialist FDA and MHRA had to act to curtail the spread of GcMAF.  But the genie is out of the bottle.

Since Dr, Yamamoto could find no interest in GcMAF here for obvious reasons, he accepted an offer to help found Efranat Ltd in Israel which successfully completed a Phase 1 Clinical Trial on their GcMAF product (EF-022).  During the safety trial about 25% of the terminal cancer patients with different cancers halted their cancers.  This was surprising since a safety study does not formulate a treatment protocol.  It just tests for toxicity.  I don't believe any died during the trial year.  As a result of this successful safety trial, EF-022 should be legal under the "Right to Try" law if you can get it.  But it is rumored that a pharmaceutical entity paid millions to buy into Efranat Ltd probably to subvert further development of EF-022.  What's a few million once to protect billions in annual income from marginal drugs.

So the medical system has a vested interest in suppressing GcMAF and keeping it banned.  Colostrum MAF is also under threat by the evil socialist FDA for the same reasons.  They will ban any all-natural product that copies the immune system's own innate mechanism for preventing and curing diseases.  Deficiencies in GcMAF develop due to circumstances and age which promote numerous diseases and can be corrected only by supplementation to re-vitalize an under-performing immune system.  Write all your Congressional representatives, like I do weekly, to liberate GcMAF.  Remember you can't age if you die early with a disease

I have since learned that Genentech Pharmaceuticals has bought into Efranat Ltd after their very successful Phase 1 Clinical Trial of EF-022.  This was probably for 3 reasons: (1) to buy controlling interest, (2) to prevent "Right to Try" sales and (3) to keep EF-022 off the market.  Genentech already has 3 blockbuster approved chemo drugs on the market generating billions each year.  Ask yourself why would a large pharmaceutical entity pay millions to buy into a very small Israeli start-up with only 1 product (GcMAF) after a safety trial.  GcMAF works and they know it and they are trying to suppress an all-natural, safe, highly effective, cancer and chronic viral disease cure.  Because of the natural way supplemental GcMAF restores a faltering immune system it can cure many other diseases.   It is a threat to the entire pharmaceutical industry.

I have since learned that GOleic was banned because the  MHRA and FDA claimed that Immuno Biotech Ltd was using tainted source plasma to make GOleic.  This turns out to be a total lie and an excuse to justify their corrupt actions.  GOleic was made from powdered Vitamin D Binding Protein isolate purchased from an approved medical supplier.  All other components of GOleic to enhance effectiveness were GRAS (Saline, Vitamin D and Oleic Acid from Olive oil).  So GOleic was perfectly safe all along, but these infiltrated corrupt government agencies are in the pocket of BIG PHARMA.  They do not want cancer cured by any means other than surgery, chemo and radiation.  They will accept patented dangerous immunotherapy but will not accept the unpatentable safe immunotherapy of GcMAF.  They have managed to remove EF-022 and GOleic from the market.

It takes 100 ng's of colostrum MAF to equal 10 ng's of GOleic  ( human GcMAF).  The cytokine profiles are also slightly different so we need both available on the market.  Colostrum MAF (bovine GcMAF) is also in danger of a ban so write your Congressional representatives and insist that the GOleic ban be removed and colostrum MAF be protected.  GOleic can be revived if there is an American market.  Don't accept their usual boiler plate response, insist on a positive response.

  • Anecdotal, but my father has his hair into his late 80's, I have all mine at 53 and my 55 year old brother has already lost much of his. My brother lives a lifestyle much like my father - meat and potatoes, except he exercises where my dad never did much (I'm a vegan athlete and do the full age reversal program). My brother did 23andme and I have a full genome, but I don't think we know what genes cause this. But whatever they are, it appears I got my dads version and my brother got another variant from our mother.

Point being, I suspect that presently if you have the genetic setup to go bald you will, and it would be difficult to prevent, as unfortunate as that is.

  • I'm conducting an experiment to get rid of grey hair using saw palmetto topical.

I break up a pill and mix with water, then wet a bandage and slap it on my chin.

    I keep it on overnight.

Previously I smeared Astragalus on my mustache and didn't see any improvement.

I need to figure out a way to keep the mixture from drying out.

Why do I do this?   Because I noticed that application of certain medication has to be sustained - eg. one needs to finish the entire anti-biotic subscription.   Although this has little relevance to anti-aging, I still want to carry out my experiment in the same manner.

I used to suffer from ringworm frequently (which I now blame on metal toxicity) and it was expensive to buy spray cans from Wallgreens and it would take a month or two to get rid of it.   Then I thought of sustained application of medication and I was able to kill the ringworm within an hour.   I would wet a bandage with apple vinegar and slap on the affected area.  I believe the acid in the vinegar dissolves the fungus, breaking them apart.

But back to my experiment - if it works - I'll save off my hair and have a big wet towel soaked with saw palmetto when I sleep.

I have a feeling this is going to show no encouraging result but I just want to put it out there.

    • johnsmith101 You are absolutely correct.  The use of GOleic was spreading among doctors and the evil socialist FDA and blatantly corrupt MHRA had to fabricate a reason to ban GOleic.  Nothing in GOleic is patentable so it can be revived by any reputable bio-lab.  It works to correct and activate a sluggish immune system to cure diseases.  The problem is that age and circumstances can cause a GcMAF deficiency in the body which hampers the body's inherent ability to eliminate aberrant cells.   Using GOleic and the Nagalase Blood Test would have made cancer just another curable disease.  Burt there are powerful corrupt forces in the medical world that do not want cancer cured.  This meant that any reputable GcMAF product, like GOleic, had to be removed from the market.  Genentech Pharmaceuticals bought out  Efranat Ltd to keep EF-022 (another GcMAF product) off the market.  Bovine GcMAF, a food product, is still available but is much weaker that GOleic made from powdered Vitamin D Binding Proteins.

Here is another shocker for you that will blow your mind.  The medical profession will try to hide this fact and patients will not be told about this horror.  It will be business as usual for oncologists.  A group of NIH researchers just discovered that chemo causes such massive DNA damage that the affected cancer cells can become cannibalistic and go dormant to defeat the chemo.  This is probably a death sentence for the patient.  Look at this link for more information.

      https://directorsblog.nih.gov/2019/10/29/caught-on-video-cancer-cells-in-act-of-cannibalism/

WE THE  PEOPLE need to make them bring back GOleic.  Ask your Congressional representatives what they are going to do about this new discovery to save lives from chemo.  Ask that they make the evil socialist FDA give an exemption for GOleic.  Then we can invite David Noakes to America to make GOleic again and then cancer and many viral diseases can be safely, effectively and cheaply cured.

why can’t this be brought forward in another country?

    • BobM BobM It would not do us any good if GOleic was restarted in another country.  Our evil socialist FDA still has a ban in place which blocks our access to it.  So the problem has to be addressed here.  Congress or the President has the authority to override the corrupt rule interpretations of the autonomous FDA.  The evil socialist FDA has little to no oversight and do much as they please.  Their policies favor those who pay their fees.  Cancer (drugs, tests, etc.) contributes millions to the FDA annually.  Nothing will be done to stop the use of chemo drugs that cause cannibalistic cancer.  These patients will die early and be classed as terminal cancers.  The families will never know that a cannibalistic cancer caused by chemo was the root cause of their loved ones predestined death.

The only way to break this corrupt racket is to force in a real cure, like GOleic.  The people have to request their representatives do something to change the system from doing the same oh and expecting something different.  Chemo has run it course with poor results.  It is not a general cure.  Time to add a real proven cure.

Note;  The crown judge in the David Noakes trial stated after hearing all the sworn first-hand evidence on GOleic that he hoped that GcMAF would be made available to the public.  He had mercy on David Noakes because he saw David's intentions were honorable and that GOleic in fact cured cancer.  The MHRA had asked for at least a 14 year sentence for marketing an unapproved drug in the UK.  GOleic is unapproved so David was sentenced to 15 months and only served 6 months.  He is out now.  The judge would have thrown the book at David if he thought that David was profiting off the misery and suffering of disillusioned cancer patients.

The discovery that chemo can cause cannibalistic cancers may be the end of the line for strong chemo.  Now the question becomes whether chemo should be limited to the very very few cancers where it is effective without causing cannibalism.  Your Congressional representatives should be made to answer some questions about the continued use of chemo when cannibalism is a real danger.  The system will ignore this danger and continue full speed ahead with even stronger chemos.  So someone has to protect cancer victims and give them a real safe cure.  GOleic is the answer as proven in court.  President Trump wants to cure cancer.  Someone needs to tell him about GOleic.  Think of the kids that could be cured easily with GOleic without being tortured as with conventional therapies.

    • BobM GcMAF is alive in Japan.  It's referred too as 2nd Generation GcMAF there.  When Dr. Yamamoto discovered GcMAF, he shared his discovery with a research university in his home country - Tokushima University.  He wanted his home country to benefit from his discovery.   This university outsources its GcMAF research to the Saisei-Mirai clinics.  You would have to travel there for treatment.  The MHRA and the FDA do not have any authority there.  But David Noakes was not impressed with their 2nd Generation GcMAF as discussed in the following link.

      https://gcmaf.se/second-generation-gcmaf/

I used GOleic off and on for years before the evil socialist FDA banned its import .  So I know its safe and effective and it works as advertised.   Remember it was banned because the evil socialist FDA considers it an unapproved drug.  It's banned for no other reason.  They found out that doctors were using it and its use was spreading so they raided some doctors who would not stop using it and then banned its import.  It actually works too well and replaces the need for a host of pharmaceuticals.  You should know that chemo does not cure cancer.  A GcMAF protocol does.  We need access to GOleic.

      This is interesting... thank you.

One item of interest is the note that GcMAF is produced naturally by the body. It would be nice to know what up regulates it.

      Like
    • BobM That's a good question.  I don't know that anything up regulates it other than Vitamin D-3.  The immune system "B" and "T" cells make GcMAF by a physical transformation of Vitamin D Binding Proteins.  Two sugar appendages hanging off this protein are clipped off by enzymes on the outer surfaces of these immune cells.  The "B" cell clips off one appendage on one side and the "T" cell clips off the other on the opposite side to make one protein of GcMAF.  Each appendage can only be clipped by a specific enzyme unique to each type of immune cell.  (The "B" and "T" cells carry different enzymes and must work together to create each GcMAF protein.)

Can you imagine the amount of work and coordination the immune system must perform to continuous make a large quantity of GcMAF proteins to keep the attacking macrophages activated since they do have a life cycle which is shortened when attacking cancer.  Each macrophage must be activated by one protein of GcMAF.  If the immune system becomes exhausted and unable to make a sufficient continuous amount of GcMAF the cancer can win.

GcMAF is a drug to the macrophages that drive them into a frenzy.  This drug causes the macrophages to self-divide on site to increase their numbers and focuses their attention on the 24X7 war.  Supplementation with GcMAF (GOleic) gives them the winning edge.  Some people (age and other factors) cannot make GcMAF fast enough and in sufficient quantities to defeat cancer.  So without supplementation they have no hope.  We need access to GOleic.

In Japan they use a cancer cure based on GcMAF. We should not need to travel to Japan for this legal cure which is much better than chemo. Cancer here is a business and depends on chemo for much of its wealth. We need to break this stalemate. There is a petition forming on the WE THE PEOPLE website to have President Trump look into this matter. Please sign if you are interested in finding new cures for cancer. Also have your friends and family sign. It takes 100,000 signatures in 30 days (ends 1/6/20) to get an official response. The link to the petition is as follows:

The petition failed .  You need 150 signatures before it goes public.  I was hoping to get these from my high school classmates on our class website, but there are too many clowns in this class and they made fun of the idea.  But those who believe in chemo should look at this link.  This link takes you to Dr. Collin's (Director of the NIH) blog. This explains why most cancers treated with strong chemo are guaranteed to come back.   This is a good reason to open the door to GcMAF in America and use it instead of chemo.  Support the cause!

I was importing it directly until they said they can’t ship it anymore. There are topical products on the market but you have to be careful. I did research and bought glycoplus that says it has 1,500ng of gcmaf in it. I have herxed on it so it has activity but I haven’t retested my nagalase to confirm. Seems like it would be ideal to use topically on your scalp if someone wanted to use it for hair loss.

Like you, I had to switch to colostrum GcMAF.  I try to get an annual Nagalase blood test to check my health status.  Most stealth pathogens cause Nagalase leakage into the blood.  As you know, some pathogens cause cancer.  Bovine GcMAF also reduces the human Nagalase level, as you learned.  But as with GOleic, you need to keep your Vitamin D-3 blood level over 40 ng/ml and also add some Omega-9 to the diet for optimum results, i.e., olive oil, avocadoes, etc.  The Omega-9 helps with the structural integrity of the GcMAF protein.   Those that have a poor Vitamin D level will be a non-responder.  (I expect those in nursing homes have a lousy Vitamin D blood level and cannot even respond to their own internal GcMAF.)  Vitamin D is key to being able to effectively use GcMAF, regardless of the source.

Something serious is developing if your Nagalase level is approaching 2.32.  You were wise to switch to GlycoPlus  to bring your Nagalase level under control.  I started using it after communicating with Teri Davis Newman.  As you may know, Teri used GOleic and is a strong supporter of GcMAF.  She gives it credit for saving her life from a fatal genetic cancer.  You can google the name.

At age 75, I still have a full head of hair and have not used it on my scalp.  But I will not hesitate to give it a try should I start losing hair.

  • I tried D&Q in April and was so impressed with my energy levels that I decided to document my hair growth. I had some Rogain in the bathroom cabinet that I had not touched in 4 years. It just did not work for me when I tried it so I put it away. These are before and after pictures about 4 months apart. I've had significant hair growth.  Is Rogain synergistic with senolytics?  N=1.

Larry Thanks for the pics.   This is a very good approximate apple to apple comparison because the length of hair is about the same.  So aerial coverage is due to thicker growth.

  • Time honored proven treatments are Finasteride 1mg per day and topical minoxidil 2% or 5%. I'm 58 and have strong family history and was seeing male pattern baldness by my mid 30's. This halted by simply taking finasteride 1mg daily and I have a full head of hair currently. A young man I know in his early 20's was going bald rapidly with crown and frontal balding. I directed him to the HIMS website where they make finasteride available without prescriptions and provide the topical minoxidil as well as various vitamins. Within 3 months had marked improvement and now 6 months later he has no noticeable balding. People respond differently to every treatment and generally the earlier the intervention the better. I cannot speak to the other treatments being talked about on this forum. After being on rapamycin and metformin regimens for about one year, I seem to be gaining back some color in my hair. Seeing the results of recent study with .001% rapamycin on skin aging made me mix up my own to try which has lead to obvious positive results. I've followed that with a .001% rapamycin/DMSO mixture to spray on scalp daily to look at any change in hair color and relative thickness of the hair shafts. Much to early to tell. Given the results on the recent study of this diluted rapamycin topical on skin aging (seems to reverse it) I would consider this unproven (but fascinating) option for balding as well.

Mark Thimineur Thanks for this info.   Very good to know.   I'm currently using Botanical Green Care, Saws Palmetto + Cayenne.   I'm hopeful this will help with hair growth.  I'm also taking catalase to darken my hair.   After reading your post, I'm very bullish about my treatment.

Chan My hair experiment so far is disappointing.   After 3 months on 20,000 IU/day of catalase, I see an improvement of just about 2% for grey hair - too little to notice.   Of bigger disappointment is the lack of a single hair with darker root and grey top.   I'm persisting because I still believe in the science.   I started out with about 50% grey, and 30% thinning hair.

tFound a dark root and grey tip hair finally!  So happy.  :)

The dark root is about half inch long and the root has a base that can be felt and the tip just tapered down to nothing toward the end.   I also applied the same force using index and thumb and switch hands, and each time the direction of movement is always toward the tip.   :)   Awesome news, will persist.

Speaking of which, I think I've been severely anaemic and this may be contributing to slow progress toward anti-grey treatment.   I'm taking iron and B12 supplements.   I don't do EPO like Ellis Toussier said.   I wish I have better understanding of it.

Mark Thimineur microneedling is quite effective especially when combined with topical minoxidil. Should see new hair sprouting in a couple of months after commencing the regimen.

Mark Thimineur hello Mark. I enjoy reading your threads. I'm a patient of dr greens myself. I do the fisetin and dastinib treatments as well as take rapa and many other supplements. I have mixed the rapa in a topical cream and started applying to my face 2.5 months ago. It's too soon to tell if it is working so far. I'm interested in your perspective on mixing dmso with the rapa. I get rapa from the pharmacy. When I google the ingredients it has all sorts of dyes and fillers. Would this be toxic to take with dmso? I use dsmo with hyaluronic acid and rose water but that is pretty clean.

    • JOHN  How do you get Dasatinib? Do you consider bonhoapharmacy a good source? Doctors around here that practice anti-aging medicine cost a fortune. One close by wants$440 just for an initial office call!!!

Chuck Frasher I'm seeing dr green in New York. He's not in it for the money. He was one of the first to prescribe rapamycin for longevity. Thankfully he writes me a script for everything I need and it goes through my insurance. My rapa costs less than 10 dollars a month and it's from Walgreens. The dastinib I get through a compounding pharmacy in the states for about 75 dollars a senolytic dose. My doc doesn't charge much for consults and scripts. I hope he's around for a long time.

Chuck Frasher you just need to see him in person once and then you can do phone consultations after that. He only changed us 350. It may have changed but that's not much money. He wrote me 4 scripts with refills to last a year.  The most expensive part was getting to New York and my hotel. Still much cheaper and safer than using an Indian pharmacy or seeing someone who is trying to capitalize on the trend.

  • Hi. I recommend you to try HGH. Human Growth Hormone or HGH can help prevent hair loss, reverse balding, and thicken hair — and it works well for many individuals. Have a good day!

  • found this article case study  Hair repigmentation associated with the use of lenalidomide.

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22440400

graying may not be an irreversible process!

    Abstract

We report the first case of progressive hair repigmentation associated with the use of lenalidomide in an elderly patient with multiple myeloma. The influence of lenalidomide on follicular melanogenesis may involve removing the inhibitory influences of some cytokines such as IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α. In addition, certain endocrine effects of lenalidomide on the hypophyseal-adrenal axis could explain its action on hair pigmentation. We further hypothesize that lenalidomide may be capable of stimulating migration and/or differentiation of melanocytes to promote repigmentation of gray hair follicles. Pending the clarification of how hair repigmentation occurs with lenalidomide, our observation materializes the concept that hair graying may not be an irreversible process, which opens avenues for targeted therapeutics in the fields of cosmetics and anti-aging medicine.

  • I've tried everything to restore my hair, and I may have found something that works for me.  I see baby hairs sprouting at my hairline!  Propecia had too many side effects.  It did make me grow hair but my libido dropped like a rock, and it made my forehead really oily.  I am allergic to Rogaine.  Also, Rogaine ages your face since it is a strong chemical.  I've tried Saw Palmetto in addition to other herbal supplements, which seemed to reduce my hair falling out, but it did not regrow hair.  I've tried so many different types of shampoos, but nothing.

What new thing did i do?  So I've tried these things at the same time and I can't figure out which is causing the baby hairs to grow on my hairline:

1.) Red Light Therapy (Platinum LED BioMax https://platinumtherapylights.com/

2.) Rosemary Extract mixed with other oils (approx 10% Rosemary Oil from amazon.com)

3.) 300-600 mcg of Melatonin supplement (for night time use Life Extension time release).  I bought this primarily to sleep.

I put on rosemary extract daily for two weeks but didn't see anything.  I bought the red light and started taking melatonin at the same time in the third week.  Red light and melatonin has been shown in scientific studies to grow hair.  For the red light I just tilt my head so the top aims at the red light for about 4 min.  Then I tilt the back of my head towards the light for about 4 min.

I see hairs growing now so I guess I will continue with these three methods since I have no idea which one is causing it.  BTW, I'm in my early 40s but people think I'm in my late 20s, early 30s.

    • Direwolf  the first thing you need to do is to start taking an alpha reductase inhibitor like Finasteride 5 mg ( not propecia 1 mg). Or take dutasterude. This blocks DHT inside of the hair follicle. Some people use saw palmetto for this but the last study that I saw showed that while SP did lower scalp DHT, it did NOT lower DHT inside of the hair follicle where it’s needed. When you ask your Dr for 5mg proscar he may want to give you 1mg. Tell him that studies showing hair counts work better with 5mg. Tell him that you can buy it over the internet but you’d rather get it from a doctor. This usually works.

Many years ago when I was in my 20’s I decided to try Dr Proctor’s regrowth shampoo. It contains an ingredient called Nano which boosts nitric oxide in the scalp. The NO in miNOxidil stands for nitric oxide. So I used the shampoo, leaving it in for a couple of minutes everyday. My hair was longer then and there was always a gob of hair on the screen over the drain after each shower.  I collected it after every shower and threw it away. After about 5 weeks using this shampoo, and nothing else, there was almost NOTHING in the drain!!  Maybe 3 or 4 hairs. And my scalp had more feeling in it again.

so I kept using it until I ran out and in about 3 or 4 weeks I started getting those gobs of hair in the drain again. It was out of laziness that I procrastinated ordering it but it turned out to be a very valuable experiment.  I ordered more and sure enough got the same results. So this happened about 4 times. I used it, it worked, and when I stopped it I started losing a lot of hair again.

so proscar (finsteride 5 mg) is an alpha reductase inhibitor that blocks DHT. And nano is a hair growth stimulant that boosts nitric oxide in the scalp. Minoxidil boosts NO as well as maybe some other growth factors.

Dr proctor also makes a topical formula that I use before applying minoxidil at night. It contains more nano plus lipid solvable vit. C, other antioxidants and a copper binding peptide.  He holds the original patent on copper peptides that ended up being used on burn victims to promote healing.

Water, propyleneglycol, allantoin, ascorbate, ascorbyl palmitate, arginine, BHT, 3-carboxypyridine-N-Oxide, CU/ZN-binding peptides (from CU/ZN sulfates), EDTA, superoxide dismutases.

      U.S. Patents: 5,352,442, 5,470,876, 5,472,687, 5,723,502, 5,728,714, 5,714,482, 6,150,405

Inflammation is another very important factor in hair loss. And Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) cause inflammation and damage to all of the tissues in your body. So eating a diet low in AGEs with lots of vegetables, fruit, berries, nuts and seeds etc with help every tissue and organ in your body. Stay away from cakes, cookies, refined flour, chips, and added sugar etc.

      https://www.mdlinx.com/article/what-are-ages-and-why-are-they-bad-for-you/lfc-3648

I try to follow Dr Greger’s 12 daily dozen but I do add some low mercury wild caught fish and clean chicken here and there. But small amounts and not often.

      https://nutritionfacts.org/video/dr-gregers-daily-dozen-checklist/

there is also a handy app (I have an iPhone)

      https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dr-gregers-daily-dozen/id1060700802

So here are the basics which I KNOW are helpful. Keep in mind it’s a lot easier to keep what you have than to regrow what you’ve lost, so do put it off.

I take dutasterude (or finasteride 5mg), I use Dr Proctor’s Regrowth shampoo https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item00320/dr-proctors-thinning-hair-shampoo and at night I apply his topical formula https://www.lifeextension.com/search#q=dr%20proctor&t=coveo4A2453FD and then I apply minoxidil foam over that. I’ve been around the hair loss forums for many years and I can tell you this is your best bet. The only other thing I will mention is that there are some peptides that are now available either from a compounding pharmacy with a prescription or through a trusted overseas supplier. I’m still doing some research on these various peptides because some of them look vary promising for all kings of tissue regeneration and repair. Regards, Chuck

  • I can tell you what has definitely worked for me. I am almost 52, no hair loss or gray hair but have noticed thinning before starting my regimen. Use Nioxin 1 cleanser to keep the follicles clear of any buildup. Follow this up with Nizoral which will block DHT from forming on your scalp. In addition to this you can add Minoxidil to your scalp about once a day for maintenance. This has definitely worked for me. I used to take a lot of testosterone and everyone knows testosterone will cause hair to fall out. This was the combo body builders use to keep hair. I no longer take high doses of test but I made it through those years with very little loss and continue to keep my hair into my 50's.
