HBOT and Rapamycin protocol

Greetings! I just signed up to this forum. I've been looking for something like this so I could bounce ideas off the group. I recently bought a Hyperbaric Chamber and have been using it off and on. I want to use it in tandem with the Rapamycin/Exercise protocol that Brad Stanfield is suggesting in his proposed medical trial. So, something like: Monday: Rapamycin dose (TBD), Tuesday exercise, Wednesday HBOT, Thursday exercise, Friday HBOT, Saturday exercise, Sunday HBOT. And then repeat the cycle...until I die at age 347? Who knows if this will increase age-span but I'm hoping it will increase healthspan and improve my quality of life. I'm 54.

  • Had similar idea but bought an EWOT device from liveo2.com which allows me to go both hyperoxic and hypoxic while exercising

  •  I am using an Oxygen concentrator for HIF although I will try mild hyperbarics.  I am not persuaded that adding the exercise makes that much of a difference. Additionally i I know that partial pressure of 0.9bar for O2 does upregulate HIF.  Whether it is worth the hassle of taking it up to 1.2bar I don't know. I will experiment to see if there is  difference.  However,  can do 0.9bar without exercise a few times a day quite easily as I can still work.

    • John Hemming I didn’t even know what HIF was! I’m going to do some research. Thanks for your comment! I’m mainly adding exercise because I feel I’m more and more deficient in that area as I get older.

    • Bart Balder I have recently found out that serum Metatonin tends to inhibit HIF in some circumstances, but that is more of a timing issue than anything else.  I cannot say my varioxia has resulted in any specific identifiable changes, but there is quite a bit of positive research aboout the area.

    • John Hemming I have looked at this issue a bit further as my protocol involves considerable amounts of melatonin.  As far as I can tell the concentrations of melatonin need to inhibit HIF are much higher than either is normal peak endogenous levels or in fact the levels I dose at which is much higher than the normal levels.

However, it is difficult to be certain about this.

    • John Hemming I have found a useful review of HIF which looks at lots of things including a link to autophagy and mitophagy.

I cannot isolate out the effects of varioxia, but I can say that the improvement in my biomarkers has accelerated.
