What type of physician do you have?

Can't post polls but am curious about what type of physician(s) are you working with? Ideally I'd have a concierge physician, but they require a $2k yearly retainer (one example).

I have several, main health plan (US) is a high deductible PPO with a HSA account. This works great as there is a lot of flexibility with the HSA, but unfortunately the PPO primary care has turned into a bunch of bean counting. Every procedure has to get approved and signed in triplicate. I get a free yearly physical, and wheedle everything else out of them that I can.

I see an anti-aging doc and pay out of pocket otherwise.

My retirement plan offers few medical options, mostly the biggest best-known providers. My HMO offers medical offices and a hospital within a single complex and is within walking distance of my home. That's the good part. Their drug protocols are almost obsessively restrictive. The range of their testing is as close to minimal as they can legally get. I've been able to wheedle a few extra blood tests, really necessary ones, during those years I was willing to engage them in combat. I wouldn't try getting them to prescribe some of the drugs in use here. I've used Life Extension blood tests several times. Every year I check out the PPOs available on my plan and wind up settling for convenience and getting the exercise of walking, which may be the most beneficial aspect of my plan. Maybe next year...
