How to take berberine

I've heard much about berberine from figures such as David Sinclaire and Andrew Huberman. What I wasn't able to understand is: is berberine something you need to take regularly or can you take berberine once in a while when you need it to lower sugar levels, say right before getting a dessert? I appreciate your comments

If your goal is to keep glucose level low then take it everyday. If your goal is for ampk effect, take it every day.  You can take it with carbs to keep glucose level from going too high. Huberman says he gets hypoglycemic from it if he’s not eating carbs. I’ve never noticed that.  I take it every morning with a very low carb breakfast and feel fine.  If your just trying to reduce impact of high carb meal, you could consider prescription drug Acarbose although that can cause stomach upset.

I initially started taking Berberine as a non prescription Metformin, although I’ve since decided that the evidence that Metformin is life extending, just isn’t there, but for now I continue the Berberine.
