Have used Co-Enzyme Q10 for years. It is the one supplement I value the most. Recently found PQQ & NT Factor Powder to help with energy levels also. Used Devils Claw, Bromelain , Chondromax (Chondroitin & Glucosamine) & MSM to great effect for my knee pain. Don't know if it's anti-aging. But if you're feeling better believe you're going in that direction. If only small scale.

 

Thanks to Bill Faloon, great lectures on You tube etc. Very inspiring.  Aging needs defeating it's one ugly *********.

    Hi Seaside.

      I have been using Ubiquinol (CoQ10) for years too, but recently I purchased the product called MitoQ. You can Google it and find out more information about it. I found out that basically all C0-Enzyme Q10 oral nutrients gets 90% destroyed in the liver before getting into your cells. But this company has now made a transport system for CoQ10 so that it is able to get directly into the Mitochondria where it is needed! MitoQ is a little more expensive than the natural form Ubiquinol and vitamin store Co-Enzyme Q10 (I found MitoQ the cheapest on Amazon.com) but it delivers the CoQ10 where it is suppose to go, so you get results, and your not wasting your money!

      Snowbird Yes, my BP is lower now that I've pretty much dropped the added salt.  It used to run commonly over 130//85, but now that's uncommon.  Since I have drastically cut the sodium, I've gotten a few home readings of 110-117 which I NEVER had at home before.  It's always higher for the doctor, but it's always higher in med offices because of my health anxiety.  When I do a canned soup, which is only about once a month, I add a bunch of extra whole grain rice or wild rice and some very low sodium or sodium free broth.  The canned soup makes up less that 25% of the volume...don't know how much less but more like 1/8.  The canned part just gives me some flavor and saves some time.  Also I add spices to the soup because the dilution of course makes it very bland.  And the sugar -- didn't know it had anything to do with BP.  Avoiding sugar is harder for me, but I'm gradually lowering that too.  I'm going to try to get a life-extension minded primary care to replace the current one leaving in December.  My diet currently I'm sure isn't as different as yours was, but I don't want to throw myself almost overnight to something more than 50% different, even temporary, so I'm doing it gradually.  Also I'll know more of what I need when I get a new doctor.  If I can't find one that cares about life-extension, I have no idea what I'll do -= look for a replacement, I guess.  Anyway, saw some ghee, about 3 different products.  Didn't have the back power to stand long enough to read the labels.  Next time hopefully.  Maybe the swelling is a little less now.  The firm egglike swelling on the outsides of my ankles seem less firm and a tad smaller.  Maybe I'll need a higher dose when the 30 day RX is finished.

      USA2Elsewhere There is a canned soup, brand name "Eden" that is very low in salt. I found it when searching all the canned food labels for low-salt. Many food companies put the ingredients in small print, so if you see a guy in a grocery store with a magnifying glass reading food labels, you can ask, "Are you Dave?". L.O.L.! Also an old country cooking tip is that if your soup is too salty, throw in a whole peeled potato when cooking the soup. The potato will absorb the extra salt in the soup. After cooking, throw out the potato. Good to hear your BP has dropped!

       Sorry that you took MitoQ and feel it did nothing for you. What improvement in
    symptoms were you expecting? Do you feel any improvement in symptoms when you
    take your regular Co-Enzyme CoQ10 twice a day? Usually when I take supplements I don’t always feel a great change in physical effects. I just know from scientific data what I 
    the best supplement I should take. However, I continue to do on-line reasearch and if 
    I find an improved supplement (such as MitoQ and others) backed by scientific studies,
    I change to that supplement. 

      If you are taking a statin drug, you should by all means be ingesting some form of CoQ10 
    as even though medical doctors don’t always discuss it with their patients, it is well documented 
    on-line that statin drugs lower CoQ10 in the body (most of CoQ10 is in the heart muscle).

    PQQ is a good nutrient to take, as is your regeime of Acetyl L Carnitine / D3/ Magnessium/ Curcumin/ Astragalus. I myself take Acetyl L Carnitine/D3/Magnesium/Rev Genetics Meta Curcumin 277x (better bioavailability)/ Life Extension: Two-Per-Day Capsules (multi-vitamin)/
    R-Lipoic Acid (the non-synthetic lipoic acid)/Life Extension: Super K (complex). In addition
    I have met with Dr. Allan Green in New York ( www.rapamycintherapy.com ) and am now on
    off-label Sirolimus (rapamycin) and off-label Metformin, for antiaging.

      I am 71 years old, and always have been health conscious, taking many nutrients that I have read that will benefit my health. I used to take even more pills! However I, like many, realize that I should lose more weight which would benefit me more that all these pills. But like most people
    was unaware the the body can survive on either glucose or fat. I tried dieting many times but always gave into that peice of pie, or ice cream, or just something sweet. Little did I know until
    I read a book by Dr. Mark Hyman, “Eat Fat, Get Thin”. that the Food Industry was actually keeping us ALL addicted to sugar by putting sugar in everything! I tried being a vegetarian to lose weight but I became more of a “Carbatarian”.      I was afraid at first. No sugar?! Would I get weak and pass out?! The opposite happened! After a

    And every morning when I weighed myself, I lost a pound! I started in the beginning of January 2018 and now I am down to 169 lbs.! That’s 66 lbs.!     I found that I was trying to cure symptoms with handfulls of vitamins and pills, but the real cause was this America diet of high carbs, thanks to the Food Industry’s greed for more profits and a little bit of my not understanding how the body processes food. Once I started eating the right foods; healthy fats like coconut oil, olive oil, avacados and MCT oil, grass-fed meats, free-range chicken (not too much protein though) , and low-glycemic organic vegetables I no longer have to take handfuls of vitamins and pills, just the ones to help with antiaging and mineral
    deficiencies cause by poor farming.

      Hi USA2Elsewhere,  Yes, Seaside said he was taking 1200 of CoQ10. I had been taking 200mg of Ubiquinol (the natural form that is in the body) twice a day, but have changed to 20mg of MitoQ twice a day. Since being on a no-sugar way of eating, my lab work is coming back with my LDL's a lot lower and my cardioligist may take me off of my statin drug. This would mean that my body's producing of its own CoQ10, may be adequate enough. I only take CoQ10 because of on-line scientific studies showing statin drugs lowers CoQ10, especially in the heart muscle.

      Snowbird Can ubiquinol be measured in the blood or can it be measured indirectly?  Glad so many things are improving for you and all others doing these life extension modifications.

      Snowbird Is Dr. Green the one from Long Island?  Did you go on rapamycin? I heard Bill Faloon say there's another one rx'ing rapamycin in FL, I think, so you're close to both NY and FL with the snowbirding.

      I have never heard of a blood test for CoQ10. You can try Googling it. And since CoQ10 goes into the mitochondria, I would think a blood test may not be an accurate test. The same for a blood test for magnesium. Most of a person's magnesium is in the cells.

      Yes, Dr. Green has his office on Long Island. He address can be found going to his website www.rapamycintherapy.com I also follow Bill Faloon and watch his lectures on YouTube. I tried finding a facility in Florida that does the rapamycin/metformin treatment but did not find any. I called many of the facilities and a lot of them had what they called "antiaging treatment" but it was injections of various vitamins and substances that are not new breakthrough treatments.

      I saw Dr. Green this past June and am on the Sirolimus and Metformin and e-mail lab work to him to review. He responds to my e-mails immediately which I like. He is happy with my lab work results and insulin sensitivity. On a previous post I talked about Dr. Green, the lab work he requires, etc.

      BEWARE! Speaking of Antiaging Facilities, many of these facilities offer “Antiaging Growth Hormone Injections”. Growth hormone builds muscle and makes you lean. Convalescent homes sometimes give it to their patients to strengthen their muscles where they can walk again. The elderly feel like they are young again! Many Body Builders ingest Growth Hormone to build up their muscles. Here’s the problem: As an adult, it speeds up 
      your aging!

      We needed a lot of Growth Hormone when we were born and growing into an adult. But due to a flaw in nature, when we are an adult, the Growth Hormone decreases a little, but does not stop. It is one of the major theories as to why we age (see Dr. Green’s website for the full details), and the reason why I take rapamycin.

      Growth Hormone also correlates with the IGF-1 gene (insulin like growth factor-1) which has been found to be one of the genes responsible for aging. Sorry I don’t have footnotes but you can Google the words: IGF-1 aging.

      Snowbird I'll continue asking the doctors too.  I know my insurance wouldn't pay for the LDL particle size.  I'm pretty sure we're off the mitochondria topic but I know a lot affects it indirectly.  Haha!

    Sorry. Not had time to keep a daily eye on this thread . In answer to an earlier question. I usually take 600mg of Co- Enzyme Q10 soft gel ubiquinone daily. I find this gives me a direct payback of 2 to 4 hours increased energy. I have noticeable energy increase to complete any tasks I undertake. 20 mg of pqq in addition seemed to make me feel generally better (hard to quantify). NT factor taken for 2 months made me fee noticeably better when walking any distance. Hills seemed a lot smaller !!. When I took MitoQ I just didn't feel any tangible benefits. That's the best way I can summarise. I believe ubiquinone has to be soft gel , powder is not as good, That's what I've experienced.

    • Seaside .... Dr. Green uses ace2 inhibitors in his coctail. I had red recently that ace2 inhibitors, separate from their blood pressure reduction, reduce oxidative stress on mitrochondria as a cause for the mice and worm life extension of 30 pluus percent. interesting is ARB (ace receptor blockers) do not havve yhe same 'all cause mortaluty' reduction as does ace2 inhibitors.

    I've been taking 100mg of CoQ10 for years, basically as insurance. Instead of taking a larger dose which seems to artificially boost my energy I take 600mg ALA/ALC (alpha-lipoic acid and acetyl l carnetine.) The reason your CoQ10 production is down is because your mitochondria crap out as you age (one of Aubrey's 7 famous mechanisms for aging). Dr Bruce Ames (researcher at Berkeley, came up with the famed Ames test) found out in mouse models that supplementing with these two in combination literally made the old mice young on all of his measures, including cognitive. He talks about it here and discusses the biological mechanisms for this. 

    On a personal basis I haven't measured it (started this long before I started my biomarker regime) but I notice when I go off of it (run out or other reason) - my energy degrades and I feel old and busted. 

    LE has various options for bioavailable ALA and ALC, and suggests taking it all before breakfast on an empty stomach.

  • After my first 1 mg dose of rapamycin I also had an elemination of left knee pain with normal walking. It took about 3 days, but loss of pain is not a placebo effect..... Tomorrow is my next 10 day dosing schedule dose at 2mg...

    I have had knee pain and foot pain for years and have been on 6 mg. rapamycin for over a year and have seen no other reports of knee pain abatement w/ rapamycin, especially such a small dose so the loss of knee pain might have been coincidence.

     

    Great posts snowbird! I've been following most of Dr. Green's protocol for the last 14 months but didn't tolerate the hypernil ACE inhibitor w/ my AFib, but am trying more than 2 g of Metformin since Ray Kurzweil has reported being on 3 g/d (he is our age but is diabetic, or was). I haven't noticed the big benefit Dr. Green noticed but I wasn't overweight and was on a pretty good diet. I am on a pretty similar plan to yours, following Bill F. and Dr. Green, and seeing some slow improvements. I'll try to get my doc to check those markers you listed.

    Joint and soft tissue injury can be treated with ozone.  There are probably several hundred practioners of a form of it called "Prolozone".  The technique was developed by an MD, but seems to be mostly available from  naturopaths.  I attended a presentation about it where a woman had two bad knees, one treated by mechanical knee replacement and the other by Prolozone.  She reported that the mechanical treatment was still a problem, while the ozone one was just normal.

    My take is that knee replacement candidates should try Prolozone first.  It will probably work in the majority of cases, and if it doesn't, mechanical replacement can still be done.

    Prolozone is a derivative of prolotherapy, but with ozone instead of saline.  The process is mechanically similar to cortisone injection, and can be repeated multiple times as required.  I'm not a seller, just a happy buyer of the treatment.

    I have heard  that coq10  should be pulsed as long term steady  use would shut down endogenous production .and that that pqq and shilijit both help with absorption..and that it should always be taken with fat (same as d ,k2 and most hormones ..
