Any professional reference

For someone that doesn't necessarily want to spend the time to research but wants to, ideally, trust in a professional?

I am happy to do my research, but it would be great to have someone that ONLY focuses on this sort of stuff as a professional consultant.

That is a tough request. The problem you will have is that many so called "professional" or "experts" get locked in to their own belief system. For instance, you may find a professional that is THE subject matter expert on Drug X. The problem is he will typically only recommend Drug X and ignore the other data out there that supports the use of Drug Y and Z.

This forum is somewhat like the professional that is locked into his own mindset. Look at all the people that are supplementing with Testosterone and Growth Hormone. There are many "experts" in these supplements yet there is no data to support taking these supplements to help you reach maximum lifespan. Quite the opposite. The data clearly show if you want to become a Supercentenarian you should not be trying to raise your T or GH levels. But... there are the "experts" that will tell you otherwise.

My advice (and this is what I do). Do your own research. When looking at a longevity supplement ask yourself.."Does it extend Maximum Lifespan" if it doesn't, why bother taking it?

What we have now for Maximum Life span extension is Rapamycin and Calorie Restriction... That's it! Senolytics seem like they could be added to the list soon .

All this other stuff... NAD, Resverotrol etc is a waste of money from a maximum lifespan standpoint. Take them if you want but they won't get you to anywhere near 120 years (or older).

    • Randy B As always Randy you are full of it. Nothing we do today, nothing,  will extend your lifespan to 120.

Maintaining optimum levels of testosterone will extend your healthspan if you are low and you are otherwise healthy. Multiple and I mean multiple studies have documented the benefits of testosterone/estradiol supplementation in  terms of eliminating/ dementia, osteoporosis and sarcopenia  in seniors, both male and female. Estradiol is extremely important to males also. Supplementation should be based on blood levels.  I am also aware that in some cases sex steroid ablation will increase the lifespan of some  with certain cancers.  I am also aware that castration in early life will on average increase ones lifespan as does a hysterectomy. However, I have no desired to be neutered.

I am alive today in part due to testosterone supplementation based on blood samples. I am hypogonadal and it contributed to my early bypass.

I am also aware that testosterone is one of the factors involved in thymus atrophy. I will work on this in a different way.

Calorie restriction has not been shown to increase maximum lifespan BEYOND A FEW YEARS as much as healthy life span, but not to 120. Check out multiple statements and references in the "Fighting Ageing" blog by Reasons.  I have not seen where rapamycin will increase maximum health span in humans to 120  either, maybe it will.  We are not there yet. I am looking at the possibility of fisetin helping  me in this effort along with fish oil, ACE inhibitors, statins, NAC,  DHEA, zinc, Vit D and a few other supplements.

I would also suggest that one consider HGH injections if your IGF-1 ifs below 50 ng/ml. There are references to support this position.

Peter H. Howe you are the kind of people I warned about. The data CLEARLY SHOW high igf levels will shorten your lifespan. Instead of following advice from the “experts” I’d suggest you start doing your own RESEARCH in PEER REVIEWED MEDICAL JOURNALS. Start by looking at characteristics of octogenarians through supercentenarians. What you will find is a common set of stats. They have LOW T, LOW IGF and very high insulin sensitivity. You do not get high insulin sensitivity with injections oh hgh.

you are part of the problem with the anti aging movement. You get your info from places like LEF or some schmoe that has a blog. Certainly testosterone will make any man feel better but it will not help him get to his max lifespan potential. If you actually ever decide to do research you will find that drugs that extend lifespan lower testosterone.. coincidence?

    • Randy B Right Randy. If you check, you will find that 50 ng/ml of IGF-1  I mentioned above is on the low side and one should consider supplementing if you are that low. Optimum levels are from 80-150 ng/ml. Do not go above 150 as your chances of cancer increases. Below 80 ng/ml cardiovascular issues arise. I did not get this from LEF. Got it from article in PEER REVIEWED MEDICAL  JOURNAL written by a group of gerontologists ( Italians as part of Chianti Research Org) .

It is not worth my time to copy you on multiple journal articles on dementia, osteoporosis and sacrcopenia and their relationship to steroids. One thing I note is that LEF does not sell testosterone or estradiol, but has articles on the benefits of both with numerous references from peer reviewed journals. I can assure you that low T will result in major problems as documented by multiple papers in PEER REVIEWED MEDICAL JOURNALS.

You are correct, some of the  antiaging treatments such as metformin and calorie restriction lower T which I have documented with my own blood tests and is why I don't use them. MY IGF-1 is ~75 which is slightly on the low side. My insulin is 6-10 range which is optimal. My Morgan epigenetic clock numbers on my last blood test at 79.5 were PhyAge of 73.2, DNA age of 71.28. My AI 2.0 and AI 3.0 biological ages were 25 and 29, respectively.

One final comment. I am tired of your slamming LEF. Unquestionably I am alive to day 26 years after an emergency bypass due to LEF and Dr. Davis who authored several articles for LEF on fish oil and stains. Why don't you find a different forum more conducive to your beliefs.

At this time there is no treatment to get the average person to 120--period.

Edit: Forgot to add Deprenyl for maximum lifespan extension. The correct dose is 1 mg/day. It also has the added benefit of helping to prevent cognitive decline.
